12th August - Tadpoles do colour mixing and mark making!
A fun car party that included coloured sand in a sensory tray along with various vehicles. The children were excited to drive their cars across the tray, observing their peers’ vehicles to create tracks and interesting patterns in the sand.

Our Tadpoles had a colourful morning exploring emotions through The Colour Monster! They used pipettes to squirt coloured water onto emotion faces, helping them understand feelings while developing fine motor skills and colour recognition. The children loved acting out happy, sad, and angry expressions — and were especially excited to mix the colours and see what new shades they could create!

4th August - Tadpoles Sponge Painting Activity
Sponge painting activity with butterfly cutouts! Our Tadpoles painted one half and then pressed them together to transfer the colour evenly. They demonstrated great focus while dabbing the sponge on one wing and carefully closing it to create a matching impression on the other wing!

We celebrated their graduation with a wonderful day full of fun — including gifts, photos, games, and even some cupcake decorating!

We’re so grateful for the fantastic space we have in our extracurricular rooms — it really allows our toddlers to explore, move, and grow!
Lately, they’ve been enjoying lots of climbing, tackling exciting obstacle courses, and developing their coordination and confidence through active play.
22nd July - Babies Sand Tuff Tray
The Butterfly babies took part in a fun activity where they discovered hidden vegetables and fruits in the sand using various gardening tools. Together, they practised naming the fruits and vegetables they uncovered and had a go at hiding them under the sand once more. Additionally, they explored the different textures of the fruits and vegetables by making impressions in the sand.
22nd July - Sports Day at Elm Park
We had a fantastic Sports Day at Elm Park! It was a wonderful day filled with energy, fun, and teamwork.
Our preschoolers and toddlers took part in a round-robin circuit, giving everyone a chance to try a variety of activities. The children enjoyed the classic egg-and-spoon race, tackled a range of obstacle courses, jumped over hurdles, and weaved their way through cones with big smiles and plenty of determination!
It was a joy to see their enthusiasm, coordination, and cheering for one another. A big well done to all the little athletes — they did brilliantly!
21st July - Tadpoles make playdough cupcakes
Today, the children enjoyed a role-play activity where they made cupcakes using play-dough. They demonstrated good listening skills and were attentive to the instructions given by their adults. They started by weighing out the flour on the scales and then carefully poured water into the bowl, showcasing good control of the jug. After mixing the ingredients, the children listened closely as they took a piece of dough, rolled it into a ball, and placed it in the cupcake holders!

Our Frogs picked so many blackberries, they were able to make a delicious crumble! They did a fantastic job mixing the ingredients and layering the crumble topping.

Babies had a wonderful time participating in our play-dough activity! They enjoyed rolling out the dough to make a pizza base and carefully selecting their toppings one by one. When it was time to ‘bake’ their creation, they confidently placed it in the oven and pressed the button!
2nd June - Phonics in the Preschool room
Today, we enjoyed a fun activity focused on exploring letters! We buried letters in colourful salt, and each child was given a paintbrush to dig them out. As they found a letter, they were encouraged to name it and say its sound.
2nd July - Sensory Ice Activity
The babies had a wonderful time exploring the bugs and animals encased in ice. They tried to melt the ice, felt the cold texture, and splashed the water!

Today, we discovered real frogs in the pond at our allotment, which created a lot of excitement among the children. They were curious about the frogs' genders and whether there might be any baby frogs present.

What don’t we do in the extra-curricular room? Our Tadpoles have been busy climbing and exploring this large space! Climbing helps develop their strength, coordination, balance, and confidence.

Today on the baby floor, the little ones enjoyed a wonderful sensory activity, exploring mark-making with different objects and their hands. The babies really dived in and had so much fun!

Our Frogs have been practising painting within the lines and creating beautiful rainbows by layering different colours — developing their focus, coordination, and creativity!

A wonderful morning at Lawrence Weston Farm! Our Tadpoles loved exploring all the animals, especially the goats and bunnies, and even had the chance to feed them some grass.

Our Frogs loved their walk down to Filton Park, spending the afternoon enjoying the fresh air, zooming down the slides, and having plenty of outdoor fun!

22nd May 2025 - SGS College Sports Sessions
SGS visited the nursery today for a special sports session! Normally, we travel to Wise Campus for activities on the astroturf, but this time they came to us. The children had a fantastic time playing Duck Duck Goose, tossing beanbags into hoops, and enjoying a lively game of Stuck in the Mud!

Our Frogs enjoyed a lovely outing today, taking a keen interest in the flowers in the fairy garden before having plenty of fun climbing in the park!
20th May 2025 - Frogs at the Allotment
Another lovely visit to the allotment — watering our plants and creating beautiful natural transient art!
19th May 2025 - Parent Day at the Allotment
Our Frogs were joined by parents for a lovely visit to the allotment!
Our chef brought along some baby tomato plants, and the children got stuck in with planting. They added clay and rocks to the bottom of their pots to help with drainage and give the plants the best chance to grow strong and healthy.
As well as planting, the children explored their creativity through transient art, using natural and loose parts to make their own unique designs. As well as that, they decorated their own plant pots and planted chive seeds to take home!
It was a wonderful day of outdoor learning, and a great opportunity for parents to see the allotment space their children enjoy so often. It gave a real insight into the hands-on, nature-based learning that takes place during our outdoor sessions.
16th May 2025 - Water Play
During the recent heatwave, our children have been keeping cool in the garden — relaxing in the shade or dipping their feet into water-filled tuff trays. They had so much fun splashing and enjoying the bubbly water!
16th May 2025 - Blaise Castle Estate
Our Tadpoles had a fantastic trip to Blaise Castle Estate! With so much open space to enjoy, they spent the day throwing balls, colour sorting, and running freely across the field. They also had fun in the playground, climbing and bouncing on the see-saws.
16th May 2025 - Messy play
Our Frogs had a blast with foamy messy play! It’s a fun way to explore textures, spark creativity, and develop fine motor skills.
15th May 2025 - Colour sorting
Our Tadpoles have been doing a fantastic job with colour sorting — carefully grouping different objects into green, blue, and red. This fun activity helps develop their colour recognition, early maths skills, and concentration.
15th May 2025 - Watering our strawberries!
We have a lovely patch of strawberries growing in our garden, and the children have been taking great care of them — making sure they get watered whenever they’re playing outside.
14th May 2025 - Toddlers & Preschool go to the Allotment
Toddlers and preschoolers have been showing great independence, filling up their watering cans and making sure all our plants and vegetables get a good drink.
14th May 2025 - Plenty of summer-themed tuff trays!
Today’s tuff trays had a sunny, seaside theme — complete with sandy play and splashing water! The children even blew paper boats across the water.
12th & 13th May 2025 - Allotment Learning Sessions
Down at our allotment, preschool children rolled up their sleeves to water our fruit, vegetables, and plants, learning how to care for the things we grow.
April - May 2025: National Pet Month
During Pet Month, we were lucky to have lots of springer spaniels come to visit! The children had such a joyful time stroking them, giving cuddles, and throwing balls for them to chase.
