Trips & Outdoor Activities

To support safe travel, we use our nursery minivan, which can accommodate up to six children at a time and is fitted with a mix of forward and rear-facing seats. For local walking trips, we use double prams and make the most of the many parks in our surrounding area.

Within the nursery, we have an outdoor space featuring a well-loved treehouse. In addition, we have access to an allotment on Station Road, which our preschool children visit regularly with our Outdoor Lead. Here, they learn to plant, grow, and harvest produce, as well as explore digging and caring for the environment.

At Eden Early Years, we believe it is important for children to learn beyond the nursery environment, supporting our strong nature-based ethos. We aim to offer multiple trips per week across all of our age ranges.

Our trips include visits to local farms such as Lawrence Weston Farm and Windmill Hill City Farm. We also hold a membership with the Bristol Zoo Project and regularly visit Bristol Museum. For all trips, we maintain a 1:2 adult-to-child ratio to ensure children’s safety and well-being. We also provide our very own Eden Early Years high-visibility vests so children are easily identifiable while out in the community.

During the summer months, children enjoy blackberry picking, which often leads to cooking activities back at the nursery, such as making crumbles and other recipes.

Our toddlers also visit the allotment, and during specific occasions we warmly invite parents to join us on these visits so they can share in and see the learning experiences their children enjoy!
