All Day Trip to Blaise Castle
This month, our Frogs enjoyed a full-day trip to Blaise Castle! We’re excited to plan more adventures like this for our children throughout the year.
The children set off in the morning in our minivan, bringing along a picnic, plenty of water, and fresh fruit for the day. When we arrived, we began by walking towards the castle. Along the way, we spotted lots of mole burrows—there were so many! We made sure to observe them carefully without disturbing them.
As we reached the wooded area, the preschoolers were eager to challenge themselves, climbing some of the steeper, hilly paths on the way up to the castle. During our walk, we could hear woodpeckers in the distance, so we paused quietly together to listen to their sounds.
When we reached the top of the castle, the children spent time exploring the area around it. They even tried knocking on the door to see if anyone was inside, but no one answered! We had hoped to take a look inside, but the castle was closed.
Instead, we took a well-earned rest on a bench, had some water, and enjoyed the beautiful surrounding views. From the top, we could see Dingle village below.
On the way back down, we came across a cave—Rosie’s Cave! We spent a short while sitting inside before continuing our walk down to the bottom. We then returned to the field, where we found the perfect picnic spot to enjoy the sandwiches our chef had prepared for us.
After some rest and food, we carried on with our adventure. Our next stop was a walk around the estate, where we took a look at the map together. We then made our way down to the river, finding a lovely, quiet spot where we could dip our toes into the stream. As it was a warm day, this was the perfect way to cool off!
The children had great fun playing in the fresh water and carefully climbing over the rocks—though our Frogs did end up with some very muddy feet!
After drying our feet and putting our shoes back on, we made our way up a big hill towards the car park. At the top, the Frogs took a moment to sit down and enjoy another snack before we set off.
On the journey back home, the preschoolers soon fell asleep, so we took the longer route to give them time to rest.
