Ukulele Lessons
Our pre-schoolers have been enjoying ukulele lessons with Tom, our specialist ukulele teacher, who visits on Wednesdays and Fridays to lead 25-minute sessions with small groups. They’ve been learning a variety of songs, from nursery rhymes like Baa Baa Black Sheep and Baby Shark to classics like We Will Rock You. The children have made fantastic progress, listening carefully to Tom and confidently naming the parts of the ukulele, exploring different notes on the strings and frets, learning chords, and understanding what playing a “0” means.
The children have even managed to learning what a chord is and playing different chords, placing their fingers on different frets and strings. Theyve also learned strumming and strumming along to different songs. At Eden Early Years, we understand that the early years are a vital time for brain development. During this period, children’s brains form millions of neural connections every second, creating the foundation for future learning, behaviour, and well-being. Research shows that music is a powerful way to stimulate these neural pathways, supporting growth in ways that go far beyond just musical skills.
Our extracurricular music rooms, where children can explore a variety of instruments, including drums, guitars, xylophones, and shakers. These spaces give children the freedom to experiment with sound, rhythm, and melody in a hands-on, child-led environment. By weaving music into daily routines and offering rich, engaging opportunities to explore sound, Eden Early Years ensures that children are not just entertained, but are actively developing the neural foundations for future success.
